A Thousand Words Thursday

I couldn't help but laugh when Lorelai struck this pose for the camera. It reminds me of an old Barbara Streisand record cover...or Queen Nefertiti...What caption would you give it?

Wordless Wednesday

Just because...I don't think I've ever shown off a pic of my preggy belly. I was 8 months along in this pic. We were on our Babymoon in the Smoky Mountains. Just the 2 of us. Our life won't be anything like that again until we are old farts and our kids are out of the house. Oy!

Got On My Mark, Got Set, and I Went!

Last Sunday was my very first race EVER!
If you know me, you know this is huge for me. I have always declared that my body is physically incapable of running. Walking has always been my exercise...but, this year I started up my walking sessions on the treadmill and NOTHING was happening. One day I was hamster-ing away on the treadmill and I thought to myself "I'm walking so fast, why don't I just try to run?" So, I did. It felt good...so I made a deal with myself to see if i could run a mile before I turned 27. At the time, my birthday was about 2 weeks away...well, to my surprise, 3 days later I ran a mile. I've been hooked ever since!
I won't say that it has been easy, but something has happened to this chick and I am suddenly declaring myself a runner. (My guess is that pregnancy and childbirth enabled my body to be stronger and awsomer, what do you think?)
Anyway, so, after just a few weeks of running, my cousin suggested I sign up for the Corktown St. Patty's Day Run in Detroit. Lately I just can't say "no" to a challenge, so I signed up....thinking it was a 5K. Two weeks before the race I found out it was actually 4 miles. I got a bit panicky about the almost extra mile, so I stepped up my training.
On race day, I was so nervous! I just wanted a guarantee that I wouldn't be the last one to cross the finish line! LOL! My time wasn't spectacular by any means, but it was a personal record...and NO, I was not the last one to finish! At one point in the race, I just wanted to cry, I was so happy to have challenged myself like that!
A special thanks to my coach (Tim, former high school track star) for being there for me and being my photographer! AND another thanks to my Dad for having THE BEST corned beef sandwiches ready when I got home!

My favorite coach!

Waiting to start the race.

Starting off with a smile.

Just a 1/4 of a mile to go!

My first crossing of the finish line :)

Double Giveaway: ecostore USA

In my last giveaway, I told you a bit about ecostore USA and their collection of products made with "No nasty chemicals". Well, here is your chance to win more!
A few nights ago, I tried ecostore's Baby Sleepytime Bath. I've tried most of the popular lavender-scented baby washes on the market. They do smell good...but, ecostore's version has got me hooked! Baby Sleepytime Bath isn't actually a wash, but a liquid aromatherapy product that you add to the bath water. I confess that I've been adding it to my own bubble baths every night! It smells SO good AND it makes me yawn!

I also got to try ecostore's Vanilla Conditioner. I've never seen such a light-feeling conditioner repair my hair so well...and the smell? Ahh...I felt like I was washing my hair in a sunny field of flowers. LOL!
So...this is your chance to win some super-pampering stuff!
Just leave a comment to enter...you can win extra chances by becoming a follower or writing about my giveaway and linking back to my post. You've got until March 27th to enter...the winner will be notified on the 30th.
Good luck!

My Question For Today:
What's your favorite thing to do when the kids are asleep and you've got the house to yourself?

My Answer:
Since my husband is gone 2 or 3 nights a week, I am well practiced at this! My favorite thing is to grab a book and a glass of wine and hop in a nice bubble bath.

Let's hear what you think!

...and, don't forget to check out my current giveaway!

Giveaway & Review: ecostore USA Pure Oxygen Whitener

With just about everyone striving to "go green" these days, isn't it thrilling to know that there is a new line of eco friendly products available at your local Meijer? Meet ecostore USA!
ecostore isn't really new per se'...but is new to the US. The company was founded almost 15 years ago in New Zealand. You can learn more about ecostore here. I think their motto says it all: "No Nasty Chemicals".
When ecostore contacted me about a review, the first product to catch my eye was the Pure Oxygen Whitener. We live in a condominium and our laundry room is located in a closet right in our kitchen/ living room. Convenient? Yes! But when I feel the need to use bleach in my wash, most of the condo becomes filled with bleach fumes. Bad for me and bad for my young daughter!
First I used the Pure Oxygen Whitener on my whites and was really pleased with the results. Since you can also use it to brighten colors, I tossed some in with a load of damp and musty clothing from our Jamaica trip- everything came out fresh!
Another thing I really like about the Pure Oxygen Whitener is that less product is required vs. similar "non-green" products on the market...that means more for my money. This is what ecostore has to say on that subject: "ecostore USA knows that it can be expensive to buy natural or organic products, but we've found a way around this by safely super-concentrating each formulation. This means that a little really does go a long, long way. The result is saving money by significantly cutting down on cost per use."
I've got you itching to try this stuff out, don't I? GREAT! Here's your chance to win some! To enter, simply leave a comment with your email address. For extra chances to win, you can blog about my giveaway and link back to my blog or become a follower of my blog. The contest will run through March 20th...the winner will be notified by Monday, March 23rd.
GOOD LUCK!

My Question For Today:

If you could have a girls' night with your favorite girlfriends, what would be the plan for the night?

My Answer:

First, drinks and a movie, followed by a trip to Meijer for snacks and then onto one of our homes for a SLEEPOVER! Yes! It has been too long since I've had a sleepover!!!

Ok! I want to hear about your "perfect night"!

A Thousand Words Thursday

This photo was taken on the last day of our "babymoon". It still just doesn't seem that long ago EVEN THOUGH in 3 months I will be celebrating Lorelai's 2nd Birthday. Part of me wouldn't mind a "surprise"...but another part of me says "absolutely not". Ahh...the constant battle that is life.

Mc Problem...Supersized

OK, I don't usually do this, but you have to read this story. Have you ever gotten this bent out of shape about food? If you are like me, the answer is a resounding "YES!"
I remember when I was expecting Lorelai. My mom had taken me out to lunch at P.F. Chang's. Tim called while we were at the restaurant and I felt guilty that he wasn't there with me dining at the closest thing to Jesus' banqueting table. I love that food with a passion. Anyway, in a moment of guilt, I promised him my leftovers. The next day, Tim ate the leftovers...and when he was done, I started CRYING! I continued to blubber something about "really wanting the leftovers and not actually thinking he'd eat them." This is so funny to me now. We have never shared Chang's leftovers since AND not only are we still married, but we are happily married...COINCIDENCE? I think NOT!
What's your funny food freak out memory?

If you ever have car trouble, give Lorelai a call. For whatever reason she has yet to figure out how to drive her Little Tikes car. She is an expert at pushing it, though.

Oh Jamaica...How I Long For Thee!

Best travel buddy ever!

Ok, pardon my tummy...but this picture is for illustrative purposes...imagine laying in the sun like this all afternoon sipping free chardonnay...hello! Perfection.

Love my birthday gift!

Part of the hotel lobby.

My last visit to "Big Smaddy". They had a pool just for adults!

Yeah, that's right...they were giving massages out there. Didn't get one, though.

Tim couldn't get enough of this boat.
